Golden Milk

Ingredients:

1 cup cow or prefered plant based milk

1/2 tsp ghee

1 tsp turmeric

pinch of black pepper

optional: 1/2 tsp ginger, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp cardamom

maple syrup or other natural sweetener to taste

Directions:

  • Heat 1/2 tsp ghee in a pan.

  • Add 1 tsp turmeric and pinch of black pepper to the warm ghee until the mixture is fragrant.

  • You can also add 1/2 tsp ginger, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp cardamom for additional spice and sweetness. Experiment to find the way you like it best.

  • 1 c of your favorite milk. I like cow’s milk for it’s nourishing vata balancing qualities. Plant based milk is a great alternative. Heat milk heat until simmering. Whisk for extra froth. If you have a bamboo whisk is perfect for this.

  • Sweeten with maple syrup or your favorite natural sweetener.

  • Serve in your favorite mug! Garnish with a sprinkle on cinnamon.
